La fortezza \u00e8 la fermezza d\u2019animo nel compiere con decisione il proprio dovere, orientandoci verso il bene, senza farci distogliere dalla paura. Questa virt\u00f9 \u00e8 un dono dello Spirito Santo che infonde in noi la forza spirituale per affrontare le difficolt\u00e0 della vita. Questa virt\u00f9, quindi, aiuta nel quotidiano a resistere alle difficolt\u00e0, fornendoci i mezzi per affrontarle nel giusto modo. Il campo della fortezza \u00e8 dunque molto ampio, perch\u00e9 di questa virt\u00f9 c\u2019\u00e8 bisogno l\u00e0 dove si deve resistere alle minacce, si devono superare le paure, si devono affrontare la noia, il tedio, il disgusto dell\u2019esistenza quotidiana per riuscire a mettere in atto il bene. \u00c8 anche la virt\u00f9 che ci rende capaci di non arrenderci di fronte alle difficolt\u00e0 che ci impediscono di essere cristiani, di trovare la forza di testimoniare sempre la nostra “Fede” vincendo ogni paura.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Il primo gradino della fortezza cristiana non \u00e8 di stringere i denti, bens\u00ec di prendere coscienza della\u00a0 propria debolezza e dei propri limiti. La fortezza non \u00e8 allora semplicemente una forma spavalderia che\u00a0 fa stringere i denti in uno sforzo eroico. \u00c8, invece, un abbandonarsi in pace a Dio, sapendo che siamo deboli, fragili.<\/p>\n

La fortezza si esprime al meglio nel resistere, nel vivere la virt\u00f9 cristiana della pazienza, e non nell\u2019aggressivit\u00e0 dell\u2019attacco.<\/div>\n

Anche nella quotidianit\u00e0 entra in gioco la fortezza infatti tutti i giorni dobbiamo resistere nel nostro dovere, nel nostro studio, nei nostri impegni, nel fare il bene malgrado tristezze, fatiche fisiche, malinconie, forse nostalgie di situazioni diverse.<\/div>\n

In quest\u2019affresco di Giotto la virt\u00f9 della Fortezza \u00e8 eretta, decisa, con la destra brandisce una mazza, con la sinistra sorregge un grande scudo sul quale campeggiano una croce e un leone rampante. Una pelle di leone le fa da mantello: la testa della fiera come elmo, le zampe anteriori legate al collo, quelle posteriori in vita. Forte come un leone!<\/p>\n

LA PRUDENZA IN PERSONA: SANTO STEFANO PRIMO MARTIRE DELLA CHIESA<\/p>\n

La fortezza ha accompagnato e sostenuto i martiri nel sacrificio della loro vita, proprio per questo Santo Stefano primo martire della Chiesa \u00e8 un esempio concreto di cosa voglia dire essere forti in senso cristiano.
\nStefano era uno dei sette uomini scelti dagli apostoli per aiutarli nel servizio ai poveri. Annunciava a tutti che Ges\u00f9 \u00e8 il Salvatore degli uomini, morto in croce e risorto. Il suo prodigarsi nell\u2019annuncio della buona novella gli cost\u00f2 caro: si inimic\u00f2 i giudei. A seguito di una grande persecuzione contro i discepoli ed i fedeli, Stefano venne arrestato e condannato a morte. Mentre lo lapidarono Stefano non prov\u00f2 rabbia o rancore nei confronti dei suoi aguzzini, bens\u00ec disse: “Signore non imputare a questa gente il male che commettono,
\nma perdonali”.<\/p>\n
